Karimnagar: The Padmanayaka Velama Sangham has demanded legal action against Shadnagar MLA Veerlapally Shankar and his disqualification from the legislator post.
Members of the association on Saturday lodged a complaint with Two Town police here demanding action against the MLA for making derogatory comments against the Velama community people. Speaking to the media, they said it was not proper on the part of legislators who took oath on the Constitution to make such comments against their community.
Suspecting that there was somebody behind the MLA’s comments, they demanded the Congress party and the TPCC president to respond on the issue. They warned to intensify their agitation in a phased manner if Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy failed to take action against the MLA. Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and Assembly speaker Gaddam Prasad should also respond to the issue and take action against the MLA, they said.
