Hyderabad: Roads and Buildings Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy on Tuesday thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for getting Godavari water from Kaleshwaram to Nizamsagar and providing water to the ayacut farmers.
Participating in a meeting with the Irrigation Advisory Board at Pragathi Bhavan here, he said the water was supplied to ayacut farmers in July itself as Kaleshwaram water reached Nizamsagar.
Around 29.22 TMC water was stored in the SRSP project. Based on the necessity of farmers, water would be released from Kakatiya canal. The board has permitted the release of water from Lakshmi canal from July 11, the Minister said, adding that efforts were on to fill up water bodies with Godavari water.
Apart from releasing water from Pocharam project from August, the board has also taken a decision to release 6.77 TMC water from Alisagar lift from July 11 in six phases till November to help farmers from Gutpa to Amroor constituency.
Since there is sufficient water in Kaulas nala project, water will be released from July to September to meet the requirements of farmers, the Minister added.
