Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay has come under sharp criticism for his remarks on political discourse in Telangana, with many calling his comments a case of rank hypocrisy.

The criticism followed Sanjay’s post on X on Friday, in which he accused the ruling Congress and the main opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of reducing politics to abusive language. He claimed the State was witnessing “pure verbal diarrhoea” and said there was no discussion on development or accountability.

Sanjay further alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Congress leadership, and BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao had replaced public debate with personal attacks. He said leaders who resort to abuse have little to show on governance.

However, his remarks triggered a backlash across social media, with users recalling his own past statements and campaign speeches full of vituperative and intemperate language, particularly ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections. Several users pointed out that Sanjay had frequently targeted political rivals and their families using similar language.

Reacting to his comments, X user Sudeep Kathuri wrote, “Says the one whose political identity is built on foul language.”

Others shared videos from the recent Jubilee Hills by-poll campaign. In one clip circulated by the X handle Just Telangana, Sanjay is seen hurling personal abuse at the BRS chief and his family during a road show.

In the video, Sanjay is heard accusing his rival of looting public money and issuing threats of political retribution.

Another X user urged the union Minister to reflect on his own record as BJP State president. The user asked him to explain what he had delivered for Telangana and reminded him of the language he had used in the past.

Telangana is witnessing pure verbal diarrhoea‼️
No talk on development.
No accountability.
Just filth from those in power and those desperate for relevance.

CM Revanth Reddy & Congress and KCR & BRS have replaced public debate with foul language.

When leaders stop speaking…
