Veteran Telugu playback singer G Anand succumbs to Covid-19
Born into a middle-class family in Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh, the playback singer started his career in film industry in Madras soon after the death of Ghantasala.
Hyderabad: Veteran Telugu playback singer G Anand passed away on Thursday evening after battling against Covid-19. He was 67.
Megastar Chiranjeevi recalled his association with Anand who rendered the voice for Chiru’s first song.
In a tweet, Chiranjeevi said, “It’s hard to believe that G Anand garu lost his life to the virus. The friendly bonding we shared throughout the journey will remain a great memory. My deep condolences to the family members in this hour of grief.”

Born into a middle-class family in Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh, the playback singer started his career in film industry in Madras soon after the death of Ghantasala.
He was first given an opportunity to sing chorus in Pandanti Kapuram which was released in 1972. He later gave his voice to various movies ‘America Ammayi’ in 1976, ‘Ame Katha’ in 1977, ‘Kalpana’, legendary actor NT Rama Rao starrer Dana Veera Sura Karna, Chiranjeevi starrer ‘Pranam Khareedu’ and many more.
The funeral was performed at Vanasthalipuram on Friday morning.
