Hyderabad: Rahmat Pasha, a cab driver who risked his life to save nearly 20 people during the Bondi Beach shooting in Sydney, has accused Congress MLC Balmoor Venkat of encroaching on his family’s land in Vikarabad.
Speaking in a video circulating on social media on Saturday, Rahmat Pasha expressed distress over an alleged attempt to lay a road through his father Mohammed Azmat Pasha’s land, which he purchased 25 years ago. The 5.5 acres of patta land, located near the New Civil Hospital in Alampally village, Vikarabad mandal, falls under Survey Nos. 277, 278 and 279. Azmat Pasha had purchased the land and constructed a compound wall around the entire property.
Rahmat Pasha also accused the local police of harassing his 75-year-old father by making him sit at the police station throughout the day.
“The Australian government has granted me permanent residency for saving people’s lives. The Telangana government, which did not offer me anything, is snatching away our property. Is this justified?” Rahmat Pasha asked.
He alleged that several individuals, including Aslam, Khaleel Pasha and others working for Congress MLC Balmoor Venkat, had been harassing his family for the past six years. He accused the MLC of misusing his position to target his elderly father.
“They are threatening to kill us for the land. He even warned that he would set us ablaze,” Rahmat Pasha alleged.
In the video, he claimed that a person named Rakesh had attempted to set his father on fire using petrol after burning a board displaying details of a court order. Despite approaching the Superintendent of Police and the Circle Inspector with evidence, no action had been initiated, he alleged.
“Vexed with this harassment, my father is contemplating suicide. If anything happens to him, the Congress government and MLC Balmoor Venkat will be responsible,” Rahmat Pasha said.
He further alleged that several individuals had trespassed onto their land, causing distress to the family. Eight FIRs had been registered against the accused, and the family had fought the cases in court and secured a favourable judgment. However, the alleged land grabbers continued to violate the court order, he claimed.
Rahmat Pasha pointed out that the police were not supposed to intervene in civil disputes but had entered his family’s land.
“Today, the police met my father on his land and wanted him to permit the road work,” he alleged.
In another video, his father Azmat Pasha accused the police of threatening to file cases against him and making him sit at the police station for several hours.
He also alleged that the land grabbers had demolished the compound wall and constructed a new one further inside the family’s property.
“They are working at the behest of MLC Balmoor Venkat. I have to marry my two daughters and cannot face this mental and physical agony,” Azmat Pasha said.
