Sangareddy: Villagers in Nyalkal mandal staged a rasta roko on the Bidar-Zaheerabad road for the second consecutive day, accusing the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department of ignoring their demand to fill potholes.
Villagers from Khaleelpur, Mirzapur, Kothur (B) and Rejinthal staged the protest on the road near the Narinja project after a bike rider, Fazal Rahaman (22), died and Mohammad Azmat was injured when a container vehicle hit their motorcycle on Monday.
The villagers, who rushed to the spot, alleged that the accident occurred due to potholes on that stretch of the road. Despite repeated complaints to R&B officials, no repair works were taken up. As the authorities continued to ignore their pleas, the villagers gathered at the site again on Tuesday and staged a rasta roko to protest against the official apathy.
The Haddanur police persuaded the protesters to withdraw the agitation, assuring them that the issue would be brought to the notice of the concerned officials.
