Karimnagar: TS Planning Board Vice-Chairman B Vinod Kumar on Wednesday emphasised the need for both government and private educational institutions to grow to cater to the educational needs of the growing population.
“The population of the country will touch 200 crore in the future, and it is necessary that both government and private educational institutions operate to meet the demand,” he said.
Vinod Kumar, accompanied by BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar, unveiled the statue of noted educationist and founder of Vaninikethan educational institutions Cheeti Ayodhya Rama Rao at Vaninikethan Degree and PG College here.
Stating that the present generation of youth should learn time management from Ayodhya Rama Rao, Vinod Kumar said he would present a gold medal in Rama Rao’s memory to a brilliant student who excels mathematics every year.
Kamalakar said he was happy to inaugurate his mentor Rama Rao’s statue and said the latter never commercialized education. Vaninikethan, which started with five students and two teachers, has developed into a prestigious institution.
The Minister remembered Rama Rao’s comments that he was happy that three of his students including Finance Minister T Harish Rao, Gangula Kamalakar and deputy speaker Padma Devender Reddy were elected as MLAs. Rama Rao, who wished him to become Minister, passed away without seeing him become a minister, he said, adding that a road in the town would be named after Ayodhya Rama Rao.
Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao, Satavana University Vice-Chancellor Mallesh and others participated in the statue unveiling programme.
