Hyderabad: Off-spinner Murugun Abhishek returned with fine figures of 10-2-40-8 but all his efforts went in vain as Hyderabad lost to Mumbai by 57 runs in the fifth and final round Elite Group C league match of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy one-day tournament in Ahmedabad on Monday.
Hyderabad and Rajasthan finished with 16 points each to qualify to the quarterfinals. They they won four and lost one. Rajasthan had better net run-rate than Hyderabad. But Hyderabad topped the table as they had beaten Rajasthan in the league match.
Mumbai could post only 168 in 39.1 overs as Abhishek spun a web around the batsmen. But Hyderabad floundered in their run-chase. The dismissal of skipper and in-form opener Thakur Tilak Verma (8) in the second over triggered Hyderabad collapse.
