Visakhapatnam: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has strongly decried the attempts of the Andhra Pradesh government to sell 130 acres of land in the city to Adani for a song.

According to CPM district secretary K. Lokanadham and Greater Visakha city secretary M. Jaggunaidu, the land under survey no.409 in Madhuravada in the city is worth Rs.2600 crore. It was given on lease earlier, but now the state government was preparing to execute a sale deed in favour of Adani for just Rs.130 crore, they alleged.

“Already, the Jaganmohan Reddy government has sold everything–from Krishnapatnam port to Visakhapatnam’s Gangavaram port –to Adani and the latest sale deed to offer land on a platter to Adani is an attempt by the state government to please Modi. Adani is the richest businessman in Asia and the assets of the state and the nation are going into his account. It is unfair for the governments, which should act as custodians of public property, to serve Adani’s interests. The state government should immediately drop the plans to sell the land to Adani,” they demanded here on Saturday.
