Kothagudem: Vikalangula Joint Action Committee (VJAC) demanded reservations for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in liquor policy. The VJAC chairman Sathish Gundapuneni submitted a memorandum to the Excise Superintendent Narasimha Reddy here on Monday.
The Telangana government was implementing the reservation for SCs, STs and Gouds for allotting liquor shops and the same should be applied to PWDs, he said.
It was said that the government which promised to implement four per cent of reservations to PWDs in jobs as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 was not implementing the reservation quota in the liquor shop allotments, Sathish complained. Reservations in liquor shops would help the PWDs to get self-employment and to provide employment to many disabled people so that they too could live with dignity in the community, he noted.
VJAC district convener Kati Nageswararao, members Mallesam, Venkateshwarlu, Chand Pasha, Lakshminarayana and others were present.
