Medak: Former Minister and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao on Saturday said the people of Telangana had taught a lesson to the Congress party, which he said was trying to outmanoeuvre Opposition parties in the gram panchayat elections by misusing police and power.

Congratulating the newly elected sarpanches and ward members of 26 gram panchayats in the Medak Assembly segment at his residence, Harish Rao said voters had backed BRS-supported candidates despite attempts by the ruling Congress to influence the electorate through money and authority.

He alleged that Congress leaders had threatened contesting candidates and ward members, but voters stood firm and supported the BRS, overcoming all challenges.

Referring to the results of the first phase of gram panchayat elections across the State, Harish Rao said they clearly reflected growing public dissatisfaction with the Congress government within just two years of coming to power. He said the electorate wanted former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to return to power.

Assuring continued support to the newly elected representatives, Harish Rao said they should actively raise public issues in their respective villages to secure funds and developmental works. BRS leaders Padma Devendar Reddy, Sheri Subhash Reddy, Patlolla Sasidhar Reddy, Kantareddy Tirupathi Reddy and others were present.
