Jagannadham, a 90 year old sports legend has spent a major part of his life as a sportsperson and has shown his skills as a cricketer, footballer, softball player and a hockey player.
Hyderabad: Hyderabad will play Rest of India in the VS Jagannadham Baseball Trophy that will be held at HBBC Ground in Shameerpet from September 10 to 12 at 11.30 am.
Jagannadham, a 90 year old sports legend has spent a major part of his life as a sportsperson and has shown his skills as a cricketer, footballer, softball player and a hockey player. His love for sports is evident in the fact that he played his last cricket match at the age of 75 years old.
Jagannadham represented the Cross Wings Softball Club of Secunderabad, which is one of the oldest softball clubs in India, in the Invitational Tournament, 1966 against the US Embassy Staff at Delhi, where the club ended a successful campaign as the runners-up.
Jagannadham has served as the treasurer and secretary of the then Hyderabad Hockey Association where he worked extensively for a better environment for nurturing the national sports. His love for sports is evident by the fact that he donated his retirement money to conduct a hockey tournament. He was also inducted into the Hall of Fame for the best batting at the National Softball Championship in 1959.
