Wanaparthy: Demanding the Congress government to extend Rythu Bharosa, crop loan waiver and bonus, farmers staged protest on the road at Gopalpet here on Monday.

The farmers assembled in large numbers on the road heading towards Nagarkurnool and raised slogans against the State government.

They charged that they were not getting Rythu Bharosa and their crop loans were also not waived. A few farmers complained that the Rs.500 bonus for paddy was also not being extended.

After the protest, the farmers submitted a representation to the Tahsildar and appealed to the government to rescue them.

Last week, a few farmers had also staged a protest in front of Mahabubnagar district collectorate charging that they had not received a Rs.500 bonus for paddy. They also submitted a representation to the district Collector in this regard.

The farmers from Muchintala under Koukuntla mandal said that two months had passed since they had sold their crops but the bonus component was yet to be deposited into their accounts.

In a video, a farmer had said “Private traders offered Rs.2800 per quintal but still we sold our stocks to the government. Accordingly, we received Rs.2320 was deposited in our bank accounts. The bonus component was still to be deposited,” he said.
