Khammam: A burglar, who committed a series of thefts, was arrested and the stolen property worth Rs 18 lakh was recovered from him.
Speaking to the media here on Saturday, the town ACP, SVRamana Murthy, informed that the two-town Inspector of Police, B Balakrishna and staff, while conducting vehicle inspections at RaparthiNagar spotted a man moving suspiciously.
When the police checked a bag he was carrying, they found gold and silver ornaments in it. Upon questioning, he confessed to having stolen them after breaking into a residential flat at SRC Towers located on Khammamby-pass road in December 2024.
The accused, GugulothNaveen of Nallagudithanda of Nellikudurumandal in Mahabubabad district, also confessed that he had stolen gold and silver ornaments from a scooty at Kushaiguda in last August, broke into two houses at Medchal and one house in Hanamkonda in last December.
He told police that he committed several thefts in Warangal, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Hyderabad and other districts since 2016. Police recovered gold ornaments weighing 290 grams and worth Rs 16.80 lakh besides 1.5 kg silver ornaments worth Rs 1.20 lakh from him, the ACP said.
