Warangal: Tension prevailed at the Social Welfare Ashram Gurukul in Madikonda after police prevented BRS leaders from entering the school to gather information about the facilities being provided to students on Tuesday. Over 50 BRS leaders and activists were detained when they forcefully tried to get into the school.
BRS leader Enugula Rakesh Reddy, corporators Radhika Reddy, Ravi Nasik along with party activists tried to visit the school as part of the Gurukul Bata programme being organised by the BRS across the State to know the condition of government residential schools.
Heated arguments broke out between the BRS leaders and the police personnel. The police told the BRS leaders that since they did not have permission to enter the school, they would not be allowed in.
The agitated protestors started raising slogans against the State government and criticised it for its failure to provide adequate facilities to the students in residential schools. When the agitators refused to leave the premises, the police arrested them and shifted them to the Madikonda police station.
