Warangal Urban: Mayor Gunda Prakash Rao said that the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) would soon set up a petrol/diesel bunk on the premises of its head office in Warangal. The council meeting held on Saturday has resolved to take up 380 development works with an estimated cost of Rs 155.11 crore. Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that the GWMC had decided to establish a sports club with Rs five crore under 6th division in the city to train the shooters at the club.
“We are taking steps as per the directions of Minister for MAUD KT Rama Rao to supply tap water to every house in the city from Ugadi this year,” he said and added that the trial run would be held on February 25 and potable drinking water would be supplied from April 14. “Minister KT Rama Rao has expressed willingness to sanction Rs 25 crore under emergency flood relief, Rs 33 crore under SC & ST sub-plan, Rs 7 crore per month under Pattana Pragathi and Rs 250 crore additional funds to the GWMC,” Prakash Rao added.
Government Chief Whip and Warangal West MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar has asked the GWMC to construct two amphitheatres and install the statue of freedom fighter Bhupathi Krishna Murthy who is also known as ‘Telangana Gandhi’. Parkal MLA Challa Dharma Reddy, Deputy Mayor Khaja Sirajoddin, Commissioner Pamela Satpathy, Additional Commissioner Ch Nageshwar, SE Vidyasagar, CP Narsimharamulu, CMHO Dr Rajareddy, Secretary Vijayalakshmi and others attended the meeting.
