Warangal Urban: The Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) is developing several junctions in the tri-cities – Warangal, Hanamkonda and Kazipet – under Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) limits, that would showcase various government schemes besides reflecting the pride of the city, District Collector Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu said on Monday.
“Fountains will be set up at the junctions and they will give a multi-colour display providing a feast for the eyes of the public,” he said, adding that junctions would be developed at Ursu, CSR gardens, Venkatrama theatre, Pochammama Maidan, Hanamkonda Public Gardens, Fatima Junction near Kazipet, Subedari, Kakatiya University junction, CSR gardens and Madikonda junction.
Addressing officials of KUDA, MA&UD and GWMC at a review meeting at his office here, the Collector directed the authorities to complete the beautification works expeditiously.
Meanwhile, GWMC commissioner Pamela Satpathy also directed the officials concerned to take steps to complete the construction of the gateways (welcome arches) being built at the entrances of the city on Warangal- Khammam road, Warangal- Narsampet road, Warangal-Hyderabad road and Warangal- Karimnagar road by January 20. She inspected the works at the field level to take stock of the progress.
Speaking on the occasion, she said that the four gateways are being constructed at a cost of Rs 8 crore to give an image make-over to the historic city of Warangal. “We are constructing the gateways under the Smart City Mission. We will also construct an approach road stretching over 475 metres on either side of the gateways,” she added.
GWMC incharge SE Vidyasagar, Smart City Mission PMC Anand Voleti and other engineering officials accompanied the Commissioner.
