Warangal Urban: Government Chief Whip and Warangal West MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar has urged people to patronise handloom products and promote weavers. He said that the weavers of Telangana are very skillful.
Speaking after inaugurating the National Handloom Day celebrations here on Saturday, he said that the handloom industry was a testament to the superiority of the weavers. “The handloom industry, which has won many prestigious awards at the national and global levels, thanks to Minister KT Rama Rao for his efforts to promote handloom industry and help the weavers on behalf of the State Government,” he said adding that National Handloom Day is an occasion to reiterate support to our weavers. He also said that the TRS government was taking several steps for the uplift of the weavers’ community.
Later, he has also inaugurated the handloom exhibition being organised by the TSCO and purchased some handloom products. Department of Textiles, AD Raghava Rao and others were present.
Minister Srinivas Goud appeals people to wear handlooms
Mahabubnagar: Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud said the State Government was according top priority for weavers’ welfare and appealed to the people to wear handlooms garments.
Addressing at the Handlooms Day celebrations programme here on Saturday, the Minister said handlooms garments were comfortable to wear and appealed to the people to wear garments in a bid to promote the skills of weavers.
As part of ensuring weavers welfare and promotion of handlooms, the State Government was distributing handlooms sarees to women during Bathukamma festivities.
In addition to the TSCO showroom in the town, he directed the district officials to explore the possibilities of setting up branches in the district. Later, the Minister flagged off a rally from Expo Plaza to Telangana chowrastha organized as part of Handlooms Day celebrations.
