Hyderabad: The family of a 56-year-old good samaritan, EV Satish Kumar, a resident of Gandhi Nagar, Hanumakonda, Warangal, who was declared brain dead, has donated his organs to needy patients under the State-run Jeevandan organ donation initiative.
Sathish Kumar, who was actively involved in social service, was admitted to a private hospital on April 2 due to Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). After eight days of ICU care, he developed sudden weakness and decreased responsiveness due to a spike in blood pressure. He was diagnosed with an intracranial (IC) bleed and was subsequently declared brain dead on April 9, officials said.
His wife, B Anuradha, and his brother EV Srinivas Rao consented to donate his organs and two organs — liver and lungs — were retrieved and allocated to needy patients.
Jeevandan Telangana expressed its gratitude to the family of Sathish Kumar for their generous decision, which has helped save and improve several lives. Their noble act stands as an inspiration to society and highlights the importance of organ donation, Jeevandan added.
