Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday caught red-handed Kankanala Ramesh, an assistant engineer with the Panchayat Raj Department posted with the Zilla Parishad in Warangal, and his private assistant Guguloth Saraiah at Ramesh’s office in Hanamkonda while they were accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for doing an official favour.

According to an ACB release, Saraiah, based on instructions from Ramesh, had demanded and taken a bribe from the complainant for processing the building permission application of the complainant’s wife to obtain approval from KUDA for the construction of a house at Kuntapally village in Sangem mandal.

The chemical test conducted on both fingers of Saraiah turned positive, officials said, adding that both were arrested and being produced before the Special Court for SPE and ACB cases at Warangal. Further investigation was on.
