Warangal: The Task Force police arrested a person who was involved in the illegal purchase and sale of rice meant for the Public Distribution System (PDS) and seized 130 quintals of rice worth nearly Rs three lakhs on Monday. According to a press note released by the Task Force, they got credible information about illegal purchase and sale of PDS rice and raided the houses of Challa Sammaiah and Thurpati Ravi at Keshavapur village under the limits of Elkathurthy police station and apprehended Challa Sammaiah for illegally possessing PDS rice.
“On interrogation, Sammaiah said he had been purchasing PDS rice from surrounding villages and transporting it to poultry farms and selling it at higher prices for their illegal benefits,” the Task Force police said, adding that the seized rice and accused were handed over to Elkathurthi police for further action. Meanwhile, another accused, Thurpati Ravi is at large.
