Warangal Urban: Alleging that the State government was encouraging private universities and not bothered to strengthen State-run universities, Telangana Jana Samithi leader Prof M Kodandaram said on Thursday that the party would conduct a two-day hunger strike (Deeksha) in Hyderabad on January 3 and 4 demanding that the government appoint Vice-Chancellors to all the varsities and fill vacant teaching and non-teaching posts in universities.
Addressing a press meet at Kakatiya University (KU) campus here, the TJS leader said: “After the formation of Telangana State, education in the universities was expected to be available to all, but the State government has not even appointed regular VCs. But the government has passed a bill allowing the setting up of the private universities,” he said.
“GO 11 is not being implemented. No posts in the varsities were filled by the TRS government. There are no regular VCs for the last 15 months,” he said.
