Warangal Urban: TRS leader and Kakatiya University Joint Action Committee (KUJAC) chairman Dr Bollikonda Veerender, Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) director Dr Chirra Raju and other ruling party leaders slammed the ABVP and some other students union leaders for their statement that they would not allow MAUD Minister K T Rama Rao to tour Warangal.

They said some student unions’ leaders were acting like ‘slaves’ of the BJP and were trying to make a meal out of the tour. The TRS and TRSV leaders also staged a protest in front of the Kakatiya University’s second gate here on Sunday condemning the student union leaders’ statement over KTR’s tour.

Speaking on the occasion, Veerender said, “It was ridiculous that the ABVP would not allow Minister KTR to attend the foundation and inauguration ceremonies in Warangal on Monday. The BJP government at the Centre has failed to provide funds to Warangal under Smart City Mission. It had also failed to set up a coach factory at Kazipet and also did not act on setting up the Tribal University in the erstwhile Warangal district so far. But the ABVP leaders were stating that they would obstruct Minister KTR’s tour though the TRS government was developing the city in all fronts by allocating hundreds of crores of rupees,” he said and warned that they would not tolerate the attempt of the ABVP and its ‘allies’.

The TRS leaders alleged that the student union leaders had colluded with the BJP and Congress in an attempt to tarnish the image of TRS. TRS youth leader and ZPTC, Jammikunta, Sriram Shyam, TRSV state leader P Komuraiah, TRSV Kakatiya University president Byrapaka Prashant,

Jetti Rajender, Aururi Ranjith, Vijay, Tupakula Ravi Kiran, Srikanth, Kodam Sairam, Bandela Rajesh and others participated in the protest.
