Warangal: A one-day workshop on online mode on “Real-Time Application of Internet of Things” was held by the Department of Computer Science (CSE), Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science, Warangal (KITSW), here on Wednesday.
According to a press release, Principal Prof K Ashoka Reddy said that workshop was held for the benefit of B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), CSN (CSE-Networks), CSM (CSE-AI & ML), CSO (CSE-IoT) students
Addressing the workshop, he explained the methodology of building the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and also explained how the field of Internet of Things (IoT) is growing at a rapid pace and there is a huge shortage of human expertise in the domain, and advised the students to concentrate on the Internet of Things (IoT) to grab increasing job opportunities with higher pay.
“Internet of Things (IoT) is the key technology as part of Industry 4.0 revolution where it can be integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Blockchain technology to develop varied applications in diverse domains,” he added.
Taking part in the workshop Deputy General Manager (Head of Engineering) – Mahindra Electric Mobility Ltd, Bengaluru, Aravindan Arunagirinathan said the Internet of Things (IoT) enables the use of autonomous technology in the agriculture sector which enables farmers to understand fields and crops at a micro-level. “Farmers in near future will operate autonomous tractors remotely to plant, harvest, pesticide and transport. Sensors placed in the fields predict crop growing cycles. Autonomous Drones automatically gather data on crop quality, quantity and parasites and take necessary precautions,” he added.
According to HoD, CSE, KITS Warangal, Dr V Shankar said, “During the academic year 2020-21, the department has started B.Tech in CSE(Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning), CSE (IoT) with an intake of 60 in each and also offers one PG course M.Tech (SE). The department is recognized as a research centre by Kakatiya University (KU),”
Dean, Research and Development, Professor P Niranjan said the department has well-experienced faculty with high qualifications. “The Department was accredited by the NBA, New Delhi. CSE students have the highest placement record, during the academic year 2020-2021, total of 302 students from Dept. of CSE bagged in the top MNCs with the highest CTC 15.12 LPA and average CTC 4.50 LPA. 178 students have already secured jobs in top MNCs for AY 2021-2022 and expect more placements in this current academic year,” he added. Faculty coordinators D Naveen Kumar and faculty and staff were present.
