Karimnagar: Heavy rain coupled with gale and hailstorm was recorded across the erstwhile Karimnagar district on Tuesday.

While all villages in Shankarapatnam mandal experienced hailstorms, Choppadandi, Ramadugu, Manakondur, Jagtial, Pegadapalli, Peddapalli, Sultanabad and other areas witnessed heavy rains.

A 70-feet huge cutout of Venkateshwara Swamy arranged at Telangana Chowk in Karimnagar town collapsed. The cutout was established by spending about Rs 45 lakh on the eve of Brammostavam scheduled to be held in February. While electric poles tilted one side, trees were uprooted in many areas of Rajanna Sircilla district. Maize crop was damaged in Jagtial area.
