Watch: ACB chases and arrests SI in Medak after he accepts bribe
A Sub-Inspector from Tekmal police station was caught by ACB officials after he fled into agricultural fields moments after accepting a bribe of Rs 20000 on Tuesday. Villagers celebrated his arrest, alleging frequent harassment. Further investigation is in progress.
Medak: Anti-Corruption Bureau officials chased down a Sub-Inspector, Rajesh of the Tekmal police station, after he attempted to flee moments after accepting a bribe at Tekmal mandal headquarters on Tuesday. The action followed a complaint from a resident who said the SI had demanded Rs 20000 from him.
As the SI received the money, ACB personnel reached the spot, prompting Rajesh to run into nearby agricultural fields. Officials pursued him for nearly 500 metres before catching him. A large crowd gathered as the chase unfolded.
Villagers in Tekmal burst crackers at several places to celebrate the arrest, alleging that the SI had harassed them over minor issues. The ACB later took Rajesh to the police station. Further investigation is under way.
