Hyderabad: BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy sparked a political storm, stating that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had orchestrated cross-voting in the recent Vice-Presidential elections. The eight Congress MPs from Telangana had voted in favour of the BJP candidate at the behest of Revanth Reddy, he said.
Addressing mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, Kaushik Reddy said out of the 15 votes that shifted, eight were from Telangana Congress MPs. He stated that by orchestrating cross-voting, Revanth Reddy betrayed people of Telangana and also the Opposition parties’ INDIA bloc nominee Justice B Sudershan Reddy.
Pointing to discrepancies in the tally, he stated that while Congress claimed Sudarshan Reddy secured 315 votes, the final count was only 300. “Where did the 15 votes go?” he questioned.
Furthermore, the BRS MLA stated that Telangana Congress MPs had even met Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Nitin Gadkari, besides the Lok Sabha Speaker, after cross-voting.
“Rahul Gandhi talks of vote theft at the national level, but his own Chief Minister from Telangana is stealing votes,” he said, adding that three Congress MPs had personally confessed to him that they voted for the NDA nominee at the behest of Revanth Reddy.
Kaushik Reddy accused Revanth Reddy of paying his “Gurudakshina” to his mentors, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, by acting as per their instructions. He suggested the Congress high command should remain cautious about the Chief Minister’s actions.
