Watch: Tesla cars successfully drive without supervision to loading docks, marking major milestone in FSD technology

Tesla AI released a video showing the vehicles autonomously navigating a 1.2-mile route at the company's Fremont factory in California. The cars effortlessly moved through the factory grounds, passing Supercharger stations and halting at designated stop signs. A notable moment highlighted a Tesla vehicle yielding to a forklift, showcasing its capacity to adapt to real-world situations.

Hyderabad: Elon Musk has declared that Tesla has achieved a big leap in the full self-driving FSD technology from Tesla. Recently, on Twitter, referring to the video posted by Tesla AI, Musk declared, “Unsupervised full self-driving begins.” The video showed Tesla electric vehicles driving themselves from the Fremont, California, factory to the loading docks, an important step toward achieving unsupervised FSD on a large scale.

In unassisted mode, the vehicle travelled a 1.2-mile drive around the factory grounds, passing through Supercharger stations, coming to predefined stop signs, and yielding to a forklift—a moment when the car’s ability to greet and treat real-world obstacles was tested.

The announcement has excited a lot of people with discussions about the potential of this new milestone. The founder of Paytm, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, commended Tesla and expressed hope that the technology could first be applied in the institutional sector, such as shuttle services at airports or exhibition centres.

Though this step is indeed a scape in between the vast horizon, one must note that these features are now permitted only inside Tesla’s controlled factory environment. Tesla self-driving cars, which come equipped with all the advanced and state-of-the-art safety features, have Traffic-Aware Cruise Control and Autosteer but still need human intervention and supervision. Tesla consistently emphasizes to consumers that these features are designed to assist drivers rather than replace them.

This accomplishment indicates that Tesla is advancing in the realm of autonomous driving; however, the practical application of these technologies in everyday scenarios remains a subject of exploration and discussion.
