Nitish Kumar Reddy's father Mutyala Reddy touches feet of Gavaskar
Hyderabad: Nitish Kumar Reddy’s valiant century during the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) was followed by a heartwarming moment off the field. On Sunday, December 28, his father, Mutyala Reddy, met legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar. In a viral video, Mutyala is seen touching Gavaskar’s feet and hugging him, a gesture of respect and gratitude. His wife and daughter accompanied him, who also touched the cricketing icon’s feet.

This meeting came a day after Nitish’s incredible knock of 114 off 189 balls, which included 11 boundaries and a six. His innings set records as the highest score by an Indian batting at number eight or lower in Australia and the highest score in that category at the MCG. Nitish also became the youngest Indian to score a Boxing Day Test century.
Nitish’s gritty performance, which reduced India’s first innings deficit to 105 after a top-order collapse, earned admiration from Gavaskar, who stood applauding in the commentary box as the young batter reached his maiden Test century.
