Sanagreddy: A newborn baby girl was allegedly stolen from the Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) in Sangareddy on Wednesday, after the mother Naseema, was admitted to the MCH for delivery on Tuesday.

According to Sangareddy police, Naseema, a resident of Dudikonda in Manoor mandal, delivered a baby girl on Tuesday evening. However, the infant went missing by afternoon.

Following a complaint from the infant’s father Abbas Ali, the Sangareddy one-town police launched a hunt to trace her.

Meanwhile, the police who checked the CCTV footage to identify and trace the child found that four women were taking the baby girl out from the hospital. While three of them entered into the ward, one woman waited outside on a scooter. Later, two of them took the girl on the scooter while the other two took an auto to leave the place.

Hospital Superintendent Dr Anil Kumar said the infant was in the possession of her grandparents when she was stolen.

SP Chennuri Rupesh visited the place following the complaint and spoke to the mother, her relatives and staff of the hospital. DSP Sangareddy Sathaiah was investigating the case.

The police were probing whether the abductors were known to the family of infant.
