In a rare turn of events, villagers in Challur, Karimnagar, celebrated the Anti-Corruption Bureau's successful trap of a corrupt panchayat secretary. The secretary, Kumbam Nagaraju, had demanded a bribe to allocate a house number.
Karimnagar: People usually trap corrupt government officials by approaching Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials. In a surprising incident, local residents celebrated the panchayat secretary’s ACB trap by bursting crackers.
This incident took place in Challur of Veenavanka mandal on Friday. Challur panchayat secretary, Kumbam Nagaraju demanded Rs 20,000 bribe from the victim to allocate a house number for the newly constructed house.
Not willing to pay the bribe, the victim approached the ACB, who devised a plan and trapped the panchayat secretary while accepting Rs 20,000 bribe.
Overjoyed by the trap of the panchayat secretary, villagers celebrated the event by bursting crackers at the gram panchayat office. They expressed relief from the panchayat secretary, who used to demand bribes for every small task from the public, villagers said.
