Hyderabad: All India Congress Committee chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s remarks asking party leaders not to permit ‘the Hyderabadi pareshani’ (trouble) to enter Uttar Pradesh have triggered varied interpretations over whom the directions were aimed at.

It may be recalled that the Congress in Telangana calls the AIMIM its ‘friendly party’. In fact, during the Jubilee Hills by-election, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had openly defended the Congress alliance with the AIMIM.

However, the AICC chief’s instructions to Congress leaders from Uttar Pradesh have left many, especially social media users, speculating about the reference. In a video circulating on social media, the AICC chief is seen issuing specific instructions to party MP Imran Masood on the Parliament premises.

“Do not allow the Hyderabadi problem to enter UP. It will ruin itself and will also ruin us along. Who you know – Hyderabad. The city is popular for three aspects – one is Sherwani, Biryani and the other one is Pareshani (trouble),” Kharge is heard saying in the video.

The comments have since triggered varied interpretations on social media. While some suggested it was an obvious reference to a prominent community leader from the city, others felt it alluded to the Congress party’s alliance with a political party led by that leader.

Sharing the video on X, Frontalforce said, “Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge told Congress MP Imran Masood to get more people to join the party and not let the Hyderabadi problem enter Uttar Pradesh. Who is the ‘Hyderabadi Problem’ that Congress fears,” the handle asked.
