Watch: RPF constable saves woman’s life at Secunderabad station
A video of the incident, which has since gone viral on social media, shows the elderly woman, identified later as Naseema Begum, running to board a train that had already started moving.
Hyderabad: An alert Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable’s presence of mind helped in rescuing an elderly woman passenger, who fell down while boarding a moving train at Secunderabad Railway Station.
On noticing the moving train, the woman hurriedly came to board the second coach from the engine even as the RPF constable Dinesh Singh, who was on duty on the platform, noticed her. When she attempted to step inside the moving train, she lost balance and fell down.
On seeing this, Singh rushed to her rescue and pulled her to safety even as others, who were present on the platform, came to assist him. Singh won accolades when the video of the incident went viral.
In a tweet, the Union Minister of Tourism and Culture G Kishan Reddy complimented Singh’s brave act.
“Commend RPF’s duty Constable Dinesh Singh, who acted swiftly to save the life of an elderly woman passenger who tried boarding a moving train at #Secunderabad Railway Station. His presence of mind and physical alacrity has saved a life, for which I extend my heartfelt appreciations,” he tweeted.
