Watch: Telangana CM Revanth Reddy insults PV Narasimha Rao while trying to snub KTR in Davos
Remarks trigger harsh reactions, with some even calling him a narcissist obsessed with power, and a low-grade incompetent leader who is a disgrace to the State and country
Hyderabad: An attempt by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to snub BRS working president and former IT Minister KT Rama Rao by labelling him an IT employee with a “worker’s mindset” is fast boomeranging, with his attempt to belittle Rama Rao, in fact, ending up as an insult to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao.
During an interview with a national television channel from Davos, Revanth Reddy said Rama Rao had worked in an IT firm earlier, “probably as a computer data operator” and had an IT employee “worker mindset”, and speaks like an employee.
He claimed that he, on the other hand, was a politician, a leader, and a policy maker and said that he “need not know everything” since there were experienced officials to take his instructions whenever he wanted to make policies.
In the process, Revanth Reddy insulted former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao, stating that he did not have much “experience with computers”. According to him, neither did N Chandrababu Naidu.
“Whoever is working on computers, they are workers. We are leaders. I’m a leader. I can take a policy decision, I have much-experienced officers. If I want something, I will instruct my officers,” (sic) he said.
However, the Telangana Chief Minister’s remarks soon triggered harsh reactions, with many pointing out his folly inlabelling Narasimha Rao as someone who did not know computers.
Many in fact, pointed out how Narasimha Rao was known as the Indian Prime Minister who knew software coding. They came up with articles on how Rao had in fact learned coding on his own using a computer given by his son, within 15 days.
His snubbing of people with the term”workers mindset” also triggered a backlash, with many also pointing out that while it was not essential for a leader to have knowledge of computers, it was absolutelyessential to have empathy to respect every individual and profession.
They also asked whether Rahul Gandhi, who once worked as an employee at Monitor Group, a strategy consulting firm in London, was not eligible to be a leader and deserved to be looked down upon.
Some even went to the extent of calling Revanth Reddy a narcissist obsessed with power, and a low-grade incompetent leader who was a disgrace to the State and country.
