Hyderabad: A video purportedly showing a policeman beating a woman with a baton and dragging her by her hair outside Hafeezpet Railway Station on Friday night has drawn condemnation.
The video, which was circulated on social media, shows the uniformed personnel allegedly beating the woman with a baton before dragging her by her hair. Locals alleged that the woman had misbehaved and used abusive language prior to the incident.
However, the alleged conduct of the personnel has drawn criticism, with people demanding that the circumstances leading to the incident be investigated and appropriate action taken.
In a statement, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) said the incident had been enquired into and the personnel concerned was identified as a Home Guard of the Telangana State Police deputed for duty at Hafeezpet Railway Station.
The RPF said the Home Guard was repatriated to the Telangana Police department for necessary disciplinary action.
