The remarks which brought to fore racism in cricket, have sparked widespread outrage with netizens taking to social media to come down heavily up on the Aussie cricket fans. Sadly, it is not a one off instance where the Australians have passed racist remarks during cricket matches.
Earlier, during the 2020-21 BGT series, Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj was targeted with racial slurs when the crowd referred to him as ‘brown monkey’. The Indian team management immediately lodged a complaint with the match referee after which the on-field umpires had to intervene and ensure that six spectators were ejected from the stands.
Meanwhile, India and Australia teams are engaged in a gripping match with the former team scoring 141 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the second innings at Stumps on day 2. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar are at the crease overnight for India with the scores of 8 off 39 and 6 off 17 respectively.
