The passionate runner has now bagged the record for completing the ‘fastest 100 miles on a treadmill – in a span of 21 hours 43 minutes and 29 seconds.
Hyderabad: USA’s Amy Palmiero-Winters’s left leg was amputated above the knee when she collided with a vehicle while out on her motorcycle years ago. However, never did she think that it would one day lead her to becoming a Guinness World Records title holder.
The passionate runner has now bagged the record for completing the ‘fastest 100 miles on a treadmill – in a span of 21 hours 43 minutes and 29 seconds.
It took Amy a lot of courage and pain to get back on her legs with time. Now, after 25 surgeries, heavy bouts of physical therapy, rehabilitation, emotional determination and a will to carry on – Amy not only runs marathons, she also breaks records with them.
“Is it easy? No, it’s not easy. Do I make it look easy? Yes I do. Because if I didn’t make it look easy, then other people wouldn’t want to continue as well. So, is running the same as what it used to be? No. But despite the pain, despite the struggles, I would say it’s even better. Before I was just running because it made me feel good, now I get to run because it makes me feel good and it helps other people,” Guinness World Record quoted Amy.
However, Amy also shares that there were many times she wanted to give up due to exhaustion, dehydration and muscle cramps. But she just stretched and reset her mindset to have the ambition to keep going.
