The Minister said the Palamuru region had just started developing due to the completion of the pending projects by the Telangana government.
Hyderabad: Upping the ante against his Andhra Pradesh Ministers over Krishna River water sharing, Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud warned them to think twice before making any comments on Telangana and its people. He stated that the people of Telangana have suffered under the Andhra rule when water was diverted to irrigate agricultural fields in Andhra Pradesh and the TRS government will not allow their atrocities to continue anymore.
Speaking to mediapersons at the TRS Legislative Party office here on Monday, the Minister said the Palamuru region had just started developing due to the completion of the pending projects by the Telangana government. But the Andhra leaders were back to steal the Palamuru’s rightful share of water from Krishna River, he said. He said apart from constructing illegal projects like Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme, the AP government had now objected to power generation from the Srisailam project which is a hydel power generation project as per the Bachawat Tribunal’s verdict.
Srinivas Goud also attacked YSRC MLC C Ramachandraiah for instigating the people. “You are well aware of the woes of Telangana people. You enjoy the benefits in Telangana and speak against its interests. Don’t get into trouble with such comments,” he said. He ridiculed the argument of Andhra Pradesh leaders that Kaleshwaram was constructed by late YS Rajasekhar Reddy during his regime. He pointed out that the former Chief Minister did not even start Pranahitha Chevella and other irrigation projects in Telangana, instead diverted the funds obtained from World Bank for executing projects in Telangana to construct projects in Andhra.
He said the Telangana leaders won’t care for positions and even lives in protecting the interests of Telangana. “We shall stop the projects being illegally constructed by Andhra on the Krishna river. We shall not allow the projects in Telangana to go dry,” Goud asserted.
MLC C Laxma Reddy, MLAs Anjaiah Yadav, Alla Venkateshwar Reddy and MP Srinivas Reddy, also spoke.
