Kothagudem: Police have distributed water filters to Adivasis living in remote Burugupadu village in Cherla mandal in the district on Saturday. Bhadrachalam ASP Dr Vineeth G visited the village and distributed terafil water filters to about 46 families. The water filters were given to ensure safe drinking water to the residents of the village to prevent the spread of communicable and water-borne diseases.
He told the villagers to make proper use of the equipment and protect themselves from diseases and informed them that the police have distributed water filters to residents in many Adivasi hamlets as part of community policing. Earlier, the ASP inspected a newly laid gravel road to connect Burugupadu village to Danavaipeta main road. The local police along with the residents have laid the gravel road which turned into a pool of mud due to recent rains.
It has become tough to travel on the road and in emergencies the villagers suffer a lot to reach the main road to go to the hospital. To restore transportation to the village the police did ‘Shramadanam’ and laid the road. The ASP appreciated the local circle inspector B Ashok, sub-inspectors Raju Varma and Venkatappaiah for their initiative.
