Medak: Finance Minister T Harish Rao inaugurated a wayside Rythu Bazar near Allapur toll gate on the outskirts of Toopran town in Medak district on Friday.
Since another wayside market built at Pathur near Gajwel had drawn encouraging response, the government built another market near Gajwel at a cost of Rs 1.60 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said vendors used to sit under the hot sun to sell vegetables, fruits and other stuff along the road here for years. With the objective of providing them a pucca market besides creating facilities for customers to purchase vegetables and fruits, the market was built, he said.
Saying that they did not allot any shop to any particular vendor, he said those who come first can occupy any stall and sell their produce. There were 50 stalls in Rythu Bazar. The market had a parking place, toilets, mineral water plant and other facilities. Asking the vendors not to sit along the road henceforth, the Minister said they can sell their produce in the comforts of the market. He also instructed the local officials to build a few more sheds if more vendors come forward.
Later, he also inaugurated an AGROS (Telangana State Agro Industries Development Corporation Limited) outlet, the second one in Toopran town. The Minister urged the farmers buy the machinery, seeds, pesticides and other agriculture implements from the AGROS at subsidised rate.
MP Medak Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Collector S Harish, Zill Parishad Chairperson R Hemalatha, Forest Development Corporation Chairman Vanteru Prathap Reddy, Municipal Chairman Ravindar Goud, District Marketing Officer MD Riyaz and others were present.
