Well done Congress: KTR warns Telangana is on brink of chaos
BRS working president KT Rama Rao accused the Congress government of pushing Telangana towards chaos following the alleged attack on his PRO and PA inside Saifabad police station. He warned that such incidents could escalate into lynching and street violence.
Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress government, sarcastically congratulating it for pushing Telangana to the brink of absolute chaos. He expressed concern over the alleged attacks on BRS leaders and his staff, stating that the situation had reached a stage where even police were refusing to register FIRs.
Speaking to the media in New Delhi about the alleged attack on his PRO Mahesh Mudiraj and PA Mahender Reddy inside a police station on Monday, Rama Rao recalled the recent attack on the residence of BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao, who led the Telangana statehood movement and thereafter served as the Chief Minister of the State for two terms. He said BRS leaders, including himself, who went to the former Chief Minister’s residence to stop the attack, were detained inside a police station, where an attempt was also made to attack them.
“Yesterday, the government again attempted to attack my PRO and my PA inside the police station itself, using around 15 people,” he said.
The BRS working president questioned whether those who attacked his staff were goons or police themselves and demanded that the identity of the plain-clothes men be established. He alleged that despite repeated requests by senior BRS leaders, MLAs and former Ministers for nearly five hours, police refused to register an FIR over the attack.
He accused the police department of working more actively for the Congress than the party’s own workers. He held the ruling Congress responsible for the attacks, to divert attention from its inability to answer questions raised by the BRS after 1,000 days in power.
Stating that the government was acting out of frustration and desperation, Rama Rao said the BRS would approach the courts on these issues to seek justice. “Such is the deplorable situation in Telangana today that the police are not even willing to register an FIR,” he said.
The BRS leader expressed concern that the State could soon witness lynching incidents on the streets. “Lynching does not always start with an act of killing, but could start with a carefully planned attack inside a police station in the presence of uniformed officials,” he remarked. He said such incidents could happen to any citizen who refused to bow down to oppression.
He took a swipe at the ruling Congress, congratulating it for pushing Telangana to the brink of absolute chaos. “Telangana is on the brink of absolute chaos. Well done, Congress,” he added.
