There’s one thing that celebrities are actively doing these days — posting a slideshow of random photos on Instagram and writing “photo dump” in the caption. Probably you posted a few dumps as well. Clearly, ‘photo dump’ is the latest social media trend in the pandemic. Instagram currently has half-a-million posts under the hashtag #photodump.
How does it work?
Instead of sharing one picture from your road trip, all you have to do is share multiple photos of you enjoying a sunrise/sunset, rocking a new outfit, eating a delicious meal, goofing around with your friends or a stunning scenic view you captured. All in a single post. It’s essential to not add too many filters or care about posting only perfect pictures. Blurry pictures will do too.
Photo dump is all about being authentic and sharing moments from your life amidst a raging pandemic. Dump photos are usually the ones you think that do not deserve a solo post — and that’s exactly how people feel about most pictures they click in lockdown. With no parties left to attend or concerts to go to with friends, people seem to believe in an ‘anything goes in a pandemic’ attitude.
Celeb photo dumps
Supermodel Bella Hadid often shares random photos from her life. So does Kylie Jenner. Back here in Bollywood, Janhvi Kapoor recently shared a dump of photos from her vacation and captioned it, “wildflower wildfire.”
Actor Mouni Roy embraced dumps by sharing pictures from her time in Odessa, Texas, and captioned it, “The week in Odessa #photodump1.”
Another Instagram user named Beatriz (@notanaveragebea) shared multiple photos from her recent outing and called it “museum photo dump”.
Just yesterday, Naina Singh (nainasingh_21) shared her version of bathroom photo dump. “Just a photo dump of bathroom selfies. P.S. the less you respond to negative, the more peaceful your life becomes (sic),” she wrote.
