What’s wrong in keeping photos of KCR, YSR at home, asks Danam Nagender

HYDERABAD: Even as the State Congress is miffed with a few MLAs for placing images of different leaders at their homes, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender asked what was wrong in keeping pictures of different leaders at his home.
“I have portraits of former Chief Ministers YS Rajasekhara Reddy and K Chandrashekhar Rao at my house. What’s the big deal in it? It is all about admiration,” Nagender, one of the first BRS MLAs to shift loyalties to the Congress as soon as it came to power, said in a chit chat with mediapersons here on Tuesday.
It may be recalled that Patancheru MLA G Mahipal Reddy, who also defected to the Congress, created a furore in the party for having BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao’s picture at his house. With many Congress leaders raising objection, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud asked the MLAs to have pictures of AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, CPP chief Sonia Gandhi and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at their camp offices.
Meanwhile, the Khairatabad MLA stated that he had not received any notice from Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar and said he would respond only after receiving the notice. He also continued to express displeasure over the officials’ attitude towards demolishing structures owned by poor people. Making his intentions clear, he said there was no going back on the issue.
“At the most, they can jail me. There are 173 cases against me. I will not tolerate if poor people’s houses are demolished,” Nagender said, adding that he would raise objections against HYDRAA’s selective demolitions.
A fortnight ago, he opposed demolitions of stalls and other structures put up by petty vendors and others on the pavements of Chintal Basthi in his constituency. He had demanded that officials should issue notices in advance for demolishing structures.
