WhatsApp group alerting members about drunk driving checks busted in Godavarikhani
A WhatsApp group created by youngsters in Godavarikhani to warn members about drunk driving checkpoints was exposed after a member was caught during a police check. The local Sub-Inspector joined the group and warned members through a selfie video.
Peddapalli: Using simple and avialable technology to escape from being caught while driving after a drink went a bit far in Godavarikhani, when youngsters creared a WhatsApp group titled “police Mamala Squad”, purely to warn each other about the drunk driving checks being conducted on roads.
They began sharing information about the ongoing drunk driving check points on roads. The tipsters obviously were avoiding those roads. But this jugaad use of technology did not last long.
The secret WhatsApp operation came to light during one of the checks in which the group member was caught. Policemen were shocked to see the warning messages posted on the group.
Then the police decided to get the better of the tipsters. The local Sub-Inspector got himself added to the group and posted a selfie video stating that he had saved all phone numbers of members and will give counseling.
Shocked after seeing SI’s selfie video, almost all the members including the group admin left from the group.
