Whimsy and wonder: Exploring Pixie’s surreal worlds at Katha

Pixie’s latest exhibition at Katha invites viewers into a realm of whimsical, dreamlike universes, where reality fades and imagination takes center stage

Hyderabad: Step into a world where imagination reigns and the boundaries of reality fade away. Pixie, an artist known for her whimsical and surreal creations, brings her alternate universes to life in Katha’s latest exhibition, “The Wanderer’s Guide to Hidden Worlds.”

The event marks the fifth installment of Katha’s art series, which aims to provide a platform for local artists to share their stories and visions.

Vidya, who goes by the name Pixie, has been an artist her entire life, exploring themes of fantasy and surrealism. For this exhibition, she transformed each canvas into a portal, offering viewers a glimpse into her own hidden worlds.

“Every painting is a window into a different universe,” she explains. Her work is full of whimsy, mystery, and characters that seem to exist between dreams and reality, inviting the audience to create their own interpretations.

One of her pieces includes a description: “Far in the corner of the universe, there is a place where the purest essence prevails. The journey there was an incredible feeling—quiet and humble.”

This is just a hint of the stories Pixie weaves into her art, leaving space for viewers to step into the unknown and imagine their own meanings.

In addition to her paintings, Pixie also creates fabric sculptures and sings, and she founded a girls’ skateboarding community in Hyderabad. “Art exists in many forms,” she says. “I want to show that creativity can be limitless.”
