Hyderabad: Surgeons from Aware Global Hospitals, LB Nagar have successfully removed 55 stones from the left kidney of a 60-year-old woman using advanced endoscopy and minimal invasive surgery, a press release said. The woman reported to the hospital with acute abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting during pain, which are the likely symptoms of kidney ailments.

The patient got treatment for pain and vomiting from local doctor but was not investigated for the cause of her symptoms, hospital doctors said.

“The patient was under extreme distress due to severe pain caused by the stones. Tests indicated presence of small to medium-sized stones in the left kidney with pelvi-ureteric junction obstruction, which prompted doctors to opt for endoscopic and minimally invasive surgical procedure to extract the stones and to treat PUJ obstruction. The procedure lasted for two and half hours, and we were able to remove all the stones from the kidney, without any complications,” said Dr P Naveen Kumar, senior urologist and Andrologist, Aware Global Hospitals.

Post-surgery, the patient was kept under observation for 48 hours before discharging from the hospital. Patient’s renal health is being monitored from time to time and her recovery is on satisfactory lines. Senior urologist Dr Venu Manne and others participated in the surgery.
