Wife elected sarpanch, husband deputy in Kothagudem gram panchayat

BRS-backed Tejavath Saritha and her husband Tejavath Ratan Naik won sarpanch and deputy sarpanch posts in Venkateshwara Colony of Kothagudem.
Kothagudem: In an interesting development in the ongoing gram panchayat polls in the district a woman has been elected sarpanch while her husband secured the deputy sarpanch post in the same panchayat.
Tejavath Saritha, supported by the BRS, was elected sarpanch of Venkateshwara Colony GP in Chunchupalli mandal, and her husband Tejavath Ratan Naik, also supported by the BRS, was elected deputy sarpanch in the second phase elections.
Speaking to the media, the sarpanch-elect and her deputy said that they both would strive to develop the village. The victory in the elections was possible due to the collective efforts of the BRS cadres, they said.
They thanked Chunchupalli mandal BRS president Mutyala Rajesh, party district president Rega Kantha Rao and the voters who supported them in the elections.
