Sangareddy: Despite a strict ban on nylon manja, some traders have put nylon glass coated manja on sale on Indiamart, a well-known online marketplace for traders and buyers.
While the police, forest and wild activists have been enforcing the ban in Telangana by conducting regular checks at kite selling shops, the wildlife activists worry that the kite flyers can easily purchase the harmful manja from online platforms.
G Sailu, a wildlife activist, demanded that the Telangana police send an advisory to all the e-commerce platforms, asking them to stop selling nylon manja. He said that the police must file cases against the e-commerce companies for facilitating such sales.
Pradeep Nair, founder of Animal Warriors Conservation Society (AWCS), said that every year hundreds of birds and animals were dying after getting trapped in nylon manja. He further said that even humans also died and sustained serious injuries in multiple incidents.
