Hyderabad: The BJP State leadership on Friday thanked the people of Hyderabad for chosing BJP as an alternate force in the State. They alleged that the TRS misused official machinery which prevented BJP from gaining the GHMC Mayor’s post by a few seats.
Speaking to mediapersons at the BJP State headquarters here, party’s State president and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar said instead of surgical strikes, the BJP conducted a saffron strike on Hyderabad. He stated that people gave a mandate for BJP and against the “corrupt” practices of the TRS government. He said the BJP cadre fought against all odds and won the GHMC polls. “People have taught a lesson to the TRS leadership in both Dubbak bypoll and GHMC elections. In 2023, the car will go to the shed,” he said.
“Victory dedicated to SEC”
Sanjay Kumar said the BJP will “dedicate its victory to the State Election Commission and the police authorities who created several hurdles for the BJP at the behest of Chief Minister and TRS President K Chandrashekhar Rao.” “The BJP State leadership will fight for development and self-respect. We are not against any section of society, but we will not tolerate any attacks on Hindutva. We will fight anti-people’s decisions,” he said.
‘Gained strength’
Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said the GHMC elections had strengthened the BJP’s position in the State. He claimed that if the State government conducted the elections in a transparent manner, BJP would have easily won the Mayor’s post. “Instead of February, the elections were conducted hastily in December without allowing the opposition parties to conduct poll campaign. The official machinery was misused against the opposition parties. A false propaganda was spread against BJP. Yet, the BJP gained strength, while both TRS and AIMIM were rejected by the people,” he said, adding that the State leadership will soon convene a meeting and discuss the future course of action.
KTR should resign: Laxman
BJP OBC Morcha national president K Laxman termed the BJP victory as people’s verdict against the leadership of Chandrashekhar Rao and TRS working president and Minister K T Rama Rao. He said Rama Rao should resign from the party post owning moral responsibility.
