Warangal: A woman has lodged a complaint against Hasanparthy Sub Inspector, alleging that due to the torture by the police personnel her husband committed suicide.

The woman, Anusha, on Thursday lodged a complaint with the Mulkanoor police, accusing Hasanparthy SI Devender of illegally detaining and torturing her husband G Ashok in a theft case. She claimed that her husband took the extreme step due to “embarrassment caused by repeated torture” meted out by the SI.

Anusha alleged that her husband was summoned by Devender on September 22 for questioning in a theft case. The SI allegedly tortured Ashok and forced him to confess the crime. He was summoned for continuous two days and tortured, she alleged, adding that unable to bear the torture Ashok commited suicide on September 24.

A case has been registered under section 194 of the BNSS and investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, Hasanparthy inspector V Cheralu claimed that Ashok was summoned for questioning in a theft case and during interrogation he was not subjected to any kind of physical assault.
